Lit From Within
Knight's recent geometric work has evolved from an appreciation of the Amish quilts made in Lancaster county (America) at the beginning of the 20th century. She pays homage to the groundbreaking work of the Amish quilters and their inventive approach to both design and colour. In this series 'Lit From Within' Knight has appropriated traditional quilting shapes, exaggerating the scale and blurring the outline of these geometric configurations. The 'supersized' arrangements instil the work with an emblematic quality and in some examples the 'softening' produces a kinetic outcome.
